Just wondering. I have been using Zed for a week now. Works a treat.
Given the negative connotations of "Z" in recent times it's a shame about the name and logo. But that will pass I guess (hope).

Not yet. Waiting for the Linux version to come out.
Yeah. Being the last letter of the english alphabet has always been hard. I really hope new letters are added to the alphabet to clean up Z's reputation.
Used for several weeks, still at early stage; lack of lots of basic functionalities such as build, run, test
, and rich languages/file formats support. Currently, it's rust version of notepad for macos only (linux and windows under developing...)
The GUI framework is unstable too, always flickering or disappeared after pop up. Very simple settings/configuration options, but Zed font is very cool and interesting.
Overall, it's looks promising but need more time and effort to make improvement and feature enhancements.
It wasn't being the last letter of the English alphabet I was thinking of as problematic. But we could fix that by tacking the Swedish/Finnish letters Å, Ä and Ö on the end.
I never miss things like build
, run
, test
. That is what terminals are for.
Surely Zed is far more than a rust version of notepad. It does all the syntax highlighting and rust-analyser things I'm used to from VSCode.
I have not noticed and GUI flickering or disappearing on my MacBook Pro M1. A couple of times some red error message box got stuck to the screen though.
I'm sure there are tons of features people want and looks like they are being worked on. But it works brilliantly for my Rust hacking sessions.
