Hi all.
I may have the occasion soon to give feedback to Discourse, our forum provider, about Rust's experiences with it. For my part I've been quite satisfied, but the way I use it is quite simple, and I know I've seen lots of opinions about things that could work better. So what do you think? What do you like about how the forums are working? What do you dislike? What features are we missing?
My favorite thing about discourse is that it gives us a place for long-running threads, and they automatically stay at the top of the list as long as they are active. I like seeing those classic old threads with big bright orange 'view' counts keep popping back up! Because of that it's a good place to coordinate projects. I also think it could be used for a lot more than it tends to be, somewhat as a wiki, or for the same purposes as the underused forge - if you want to maintain some information, just create a thread and keep the OP up to date.
I don't have any particular complaints about discourse, except maybe that the UI is pretty heavy, and can be unpleasant to use on the phone.
I'm especially curious to hear from moderators, who use the sites differently than most of us.
