Why Build Localcoder
Lately it has felt increasingly clear that AI coding tools are moving in two parallel directions:

faster, cheaper, more controllable local small models combined with tool use
Localcoder leans toward the second path.
It is a Claude-like command-line AI assistant built in Rust, with Ollama and local models as the primary target. The goal is not just to build another chat wrapper, but to build a local CLI agent that can actually fit into a real development workflow.
Why Rust
Once a tool becomes part of everyday use, people care less about whether it can run at all and more about whether it feels solid:

Rust is a strong fit for this kind of project. It offers strong performance, simple binary distribution, and a better foundation for long-term maintenance. Why Ollama
Ollama makes local model adoption practical.
You do not need a complicated deployment story just to get a local model running. It is straightforward to bring a model up and connect it to a REPL, tool calling, and project-level configuration. For developers who want AI inside their own workflow, that is a very practical path.
Why Local Small Models Matter
Not every task needs the strongest possible model. A lot of development work is really just:
