Following the github issue tracker for the next gen trait solver.
sounds reasonable to think that we will soon have a robust specialization handling ?
I know nothing about it personally, but there have been several posts here saying that it has hit some sort of a dead end and may or may not happen.

The hope I had is that the dev is really recent, but you are right!

Yeah, they're maintaining the current level of support for unstable features in the new solver to the extent that's practical (but some things have been ripped out (not specialization)).
I don't think specialization is coming to stable any time soon. At least, I haven't seen activity in that direction, and I'm under the impression it needs something like a new RFC and a champion to get there.
