Hi everyone,
I’ve built a small programming language for UI development in Rust, but I’m not sure where to find developers who might be interested in trying it.
I’ve mostly tested it on my own examples so far, including a landing page, an in-browser sandbox, and a Pong game. I’d like to get feedback on the syntax and find out where it breaks for people who didn’t build it themselves.
Do you know any communities, forums, or places where I could find early testers interested in Rust, UI, or programming languages?
I looked at the repo and... It is a lot of (LLM-genrated?) stuff...
Let's start with some simple questions: if I understand it correctly the project Is about a DSL to write UIs for the browser - what does make it different from HTML/CSS/JS? What does make it better? From the README I don't understand how I am suppose to write the application logic. In JS? In Rust? Does it integrate into the DOM or does all rendering by its own (pong example seems to go that way). It Is not very clear where I am supposed to use tint or for what.
Yeah, some of it was AI-assisted, especially the docs. The README definitely needs a rewrite, right now it mostly lists features without explaining the idea.
Tint is a separate language. I’m still figuring out exactly where it fits, but the direction is UI + UI logic in Tint, with more complex application logic in Rust.
Right now it’s like Tint -> WASM -> DOM/CSS. Longer term I want multiple rendering backends: DOM for web, a native Rust backend, and direct WebGPU rendering for desktop.
Thanks for the feedback, it helped. I rewrote the README. The idea is simple now - you write only .tn files for the UI and its logic, and Tint makes the HTML, CSS and JS for you. Tint site and sandbox are built like this now, bigger app logic stays in Rust. No need to look again, I just wanted to say ty.
You are welcome. Even if I don't completely agree with the necessity of a full DSL that includes a mini-programming language for the development of UIs you're project is still interesting. Have fun!
