A phrase I've seen a few times on here is something along the line of "Acquiring a mutex isn't slow, it's contention that's slow". Thanks for sharing it! A couple of days ago I met Jon and listened to a lighting version of this talk at Rustikon. I asked him where I can find a full version of the talk, and he told me that is should be published to Jane Street's channel in a couple of weeks. It's nice knowing that full version is available now. All I can say is that I highly recommend watching it!
