just before, i followed the instructions on rust-lang.org to install rust on a pretty clean installation of Ubuntu Jammy.
had to first install curl - chose snap version. then for the next command to install rust, it gave an error about download failed. i just removed the snap version of curl and installed the apt version, and everything worked fine.
just letting you know about the snap version. i have also had issues with snap versions of ffmpeg and other similar tools, where after installation, the tool was not available when called from a bash script, but was available when called directly from the terminal.
I believe when you install things through snap you have to, after installing them, give them permission to access your filesystem (in general any IO I believe, so that includes network).
