Rustup failing to install nightly without errors?

Hi and sorry for the very simple question; but I am either doing something very stupid, or something very wrong is with my rust installation on Windows10? I am simply running rustup --verbose toolchain install nightly and getting:

That is... the toolchain is not being installed but no errors are raised?

rustup --version
rustup 1.22.1 (b01adbbc3 2020-07-08)

rustup toolchain list
stable-x86_64-pc-windows-msvc (default)

I would probably just delete ~/.rustup and start over. I don’t know of any great mechanisms to debug the issue.

Thanks for the reply; I deleted .rustup and still it won't install nightly. It will happily install stable again though... very weird :confused:

I'm getting the same thing on GitHub Actions :confused: It just started failing recently.

Ah, good point... this was my first time installing nightly so it didn't cross my mind to install a previous version. rustup toolchain install nightly-2020-09-11 worked; thanks for the replies!

This issue is relevant to Github Actions using actions-rs:

If you select a component (such as clippy or rustfmt), then it'll be more forgiving, but if it's just rustc then it will fail when the upstream builder fails.
