@Enet4 At present, yes, a user is expected to install the toolchain themselves; there are no situations where rustup will install a toolchain lazily as you might expect. Hopefully rustup gives an error message saying the name of the toolchain, so a user can know which one to install.
It's also a longstanding limitation that rustup can't correlate the main distribution channels to the archives.
