Projects that have carry over into jobs?

Im new to Rust having just finished the Rust book tutorial and I was curious what people thought were good projects to start doing that have carry over into real world jobs.
Ive looked at a few sites on good projects to do but as these all can take considerable amounts of time I was hoping for some direction as to what might be a better area to focus on.
Im a FE(front-end) Angular dev right now having been in the industry for 5+ years and I don't have real hopes of staying on the FE side of things. Rust seems like a great place to be and am trying to get a job doing something other than FE work at some point.
