New Zealanders - any interest in a talk about a NTP client I have written?

I am just about ready to release a NTP client that synchronises your system’s time with no fuss. The workings of computer time keeping and NTP has always felt like opaque wizardry, but it’s actually very simple and would love to walk anyone through it.

Other options include:

  • recorded video walkthrough for people outside of Wellington
  • live programming a concurrent implementation during the meetup

The client was written for the “Time” chapter of my book (Rust in Action, Manning), but I am quite happy with it and think that it is a project that could happily live on its own.

FYI I’ve released the (unpretty!) code for the NTP client: timepong.

Have received a few requests for a video introduction, so I’ll look into how to do this!
