IOS app for users forum

Is there any IOS app for using this users forum?

Likely not.
This forum is based on discourse, i.e. it is developed by a completely separate group of people, and it is deployed and operated by (among other groups) the Rust community.

Given all this, it is difficult to see how a single app could support all the different discourse deployments (which likely run on very different servers).

The good news is that URLO has a responsive layout, in case you haven't tried that yet.

If you have and still want an app, I'm curious as to why?

Thanks for your reply. With this information you provided I went to AppStore and it looks there is actually an app. What I’m interested in is having alerts at IOS level that I can quickly filter/open depending on my interests, and also see responses (like yours) in a handy way. Will try this app and see how it goes.

Motivation is: now that we don’t know how active Reddit will be, I still want to keep up with Rust.

Hope this makes sense.

Actually I received your reply as an IOS notification, and I’m replying through the app too. Quite nice.

Push notifications are actually the only functionality of the iOS app - the rest of it is just open in browser shortcuts.

Browser APIs support push notifications too, I’m not sure if Discourse has them because I tend to reflexively forbid them whenever a site wants to enable them.

With both Firefox and Chrome on Android you can "install" some websites (like Discourse instances) as chromeless browser windows with push notifications.

I forgot how they call this. Progressive web apps?

Yeah, you can find the button to enable them in your user preferences on every platform except iOS Safari.
