Impact of Mozilla layoffs (and future profitability) on Rust's development and future?

I was saddened to read about the recent round of layoffs at Mozilla (Readying for the Future at Mozilla).

Is this predicted to affect the folks working on Rust at Mozilla? What are its implications with respect to the idea of a Rust Foundation (Baby Steps).

There's some discussion on reddit:

This is very sad news to hear.

On the positive side: In the linked discussion on reddit it's amazing to see how any companies out there are using Rust and inviting any Mozilla Rust developer refugees to apply for jobs with them.

Seems Rust really has taken on a life of it's own outside Mozilla.

Thank you for the link to the additional information.
