I don't know if it's a bug or a feature, but when I was looking for this post about code formatting, I clicked the forum logo (in the navbar), finding only "Welcome to the Rust programming language users forum" there. After looking for it in some other pages and back, I found the "Welcome" post was gone too.
However, when I enter the forum through another browser -- which gives a not-logged-in view -- I find both posts still pinned at the home page.
Is there some way to make the 2 posts always stay at the top of the homepage? And is anyone else experiencing the same?
I search for in:pinned whenever I want to see such posts. It seems like you can also choose to manually keep one of those posts pinned by scrolling down near the bottom, clicking on "unpinned", and selecting "pinned" or "globally pinned". There's also a bookmark feature I've never used, no clue what that does.
Itʼs a feature. You can scroll to the bottom of a pinned thread and use the button there to make it fixed to the home page again.
Furthermore, if you donʼt like the automatic unpinning, you can prevent it from happening as follows:
- go to https://users.rust-lang.org/my/preferences/interface
- find and turn off “
Automatically unpin topics when I reach the bottom”
- enjoy, it works!

With this setting unchecked, you can of course still use the same button as described in the first section above to decide on a topic by topic basis whether to manually unpin it or not.
