Guardian DB is a distributed database inspired by IPFS, focused on being more logical, cohesive, polished, and robust.
Currently we’re:
Migrating from slog → tracing + tracing-subscriber
Consolidating the ipfs_core module
Strengthening tests and documentation
Contributions and feedback are very welcome.

I am currently developing a native application written in rust that scans public music sources or music previews for their dynamics (possibly finding music not that much affected by the loudness war).
The scan results of each user should be shared to build a common database.
I would like to have that database decentralised. That's why I'm interested in your project.
Sounds great.
May I ask how or if it is founded in some way? I see a lot of effort going in. A lot for a spare time project.
Best wishes and thanks for sharing.
Hello Tobias. At the moment, GuardianDB is not funded. Thank you very much for the recognition and consideration. There is indeed a lot of effort involved in both development and outreach, but it’s all done by me alone.
GuardianDB was born from an idea I had to build a “Messenger app” in Rust. But when I researched native Rust solutions, I couldn’t find anything meaningful to use and I wanted the entire app and ecosystem to be in Rust. The same happened with the internal P2P networking mechanisms and protocols, named 'GuardianEngine', that I’m developing. I couldn’t find anything ready-made that I could rely on.
I am really spending a lot of time and effort on these developments, it’s exhausting and extremely complex, but in the long run it will be worth it. I wish more developers from the community would get involved and help build it by providing feedback, but that still hasn’t happened.
GuardianDB is a very large project. At the moment, I’m refactoring the code by removing libp2p and migrating to Iroh, it has been hard work. I’m also fixing some bugs in the 'log' module, which will continue to be used by the event-log-store. The kv-store and document-store will be migrated to iroh-docs.
Funding would be interesting and very welcome, but for now I haven’t been able to attract enough attention for that.
