Sorry if this is bad, my email is maybejosiah@aol.com, I am okay being spammed, I just want to make games with Rust and other people, either make my games e.g. higher dimensional PacMan called Paxul 3+, or yours, or we can decide once we come together or something, I don't like bloat though and AI use is just not copyrightable commonly, so if you want revenue share, might want to stay away from AI except what is okay to lose, anyway, terms to be decided, any takers? I can host the private git repo if needed, basically just electricity costs to me, not much, if you want public everything, Codeberg is free, if we are doing commercial I prefer pure revenue share, I prefer in USA for business cheapness reasons, but don't care, and just saying this because most leave when they find out, I am right wing but enjoy conversations regardless of politics, I have plans for 3 backends and unified front end for practically all Rust can compile to except some console stuff, but it does include smart TV and VR, not that we must do it all, but I plan a lot, just getting off my previous higher dimensional game translations, should I just help open source or something to work in a group?
Just wanted to mention that AI-generated content is copyrightable if you "take control of the creative process", for example:
- You create multiple versions and pick one
- Your prompt is detailed to produce a specific result
- You inspect the result and prompt AI to make changes to it
Hi maybeJosiah,
I use a lot of AI for learning purpose not doing in real world but myself i don't like much to AI, I am interesting in making rust group for game
but I am beginner to Rust programming however I am coming from C++ Developer, I know as intermediate for programming stuff.
Do you have a plan for game ? which game will be? 2D platformer? 3D game ? FPS? TPS shooter ? We need some picture of game to get some idea on what it will be ? Are we agreed for free or commercial game? Open source or closed code ? Are you doing to GDD? etc...
We need to collect some programmers to form a group and talk for what we are agreed based our assumption ?
So I am intermediate from 3D Artist, learning to code for game in Rust, see my first code of Rust : Animated Eyes, my first code in Rust, Yay! and I would like to specialize in 2D/3D/Game domain with Rust ![]()
Okay, I have plans for if we are using my ideas, but of course we should agree on stuff, should I say what I would do if just me like my wanted game or what? I do like higher dimensional stuff, what do you want to do?
Depend on what do you want and other programmer ? Making a game for Rust group, like as a routine it needs a plan, supposed to working something on game as prototype, showing a screenshot of your progress that motivate other programmers and have more chance to join us...
What does it mean for higher dimensional stuff ? Honestly I have not clue of what is it ? What it is this game in term of category ? And whats it look like ?
Me I would like to make a 2D platformer, because of simpler one and then we can to complexify by time, that mean Rust for game is pretty new in this domain but very feasible now ![]()
We need to make to do a lot of things before making a game like make history, draw character, make a GDD, prototype design, animation design, game design, etc... But overall that we need to organize ourself, who is first leader ? You or other people ? and then who are for graphic group, animation group, sound group, etc...
Believe me it is not easy for a task for group... Because I have an experience from C++ developer for game and doing that too sometime it success and other it fails... All depend our experience, motivation and perseverance ...
I understand you that we are new that i mean i am here for hope making a game for a group, after that all depend if it is a small game or big game, our ressource, our time, our work for together, etc... It is a big work, so I am asking you if you are ready for this investment ? Me ? Why not to join you ? But It all depends on concrete work, not just words; it requires action and a solid, viable approach.
Sorry for being blunt, but that’s just the reality if you want to make video games properly and professionally.
However I call two solid programmer who have a nice experience in game and hoping if they can help us or not for making a game from a rust group if of course they are agreed !
@Zlormann and @sham-404
Are you agreed if your time is permitted to talk for a game making Rust group ? Initially by @maybeJosiah and we search passionated programmer who can make a nice game ? What are your thoughts on that ? Are you joining us or not ? We need your tips/tricks ?
Sorry for the disturbance and thanks for your understanding and your effort.
Best regards.
A link to a previous game and what I have now, anyway, 4d+ in my case is just a slice of higher dimensions like if it exactly passes a view plane on the way to a view point then it is viewed, otherwise not, basically a lot of numbers arranged into coordinates, thank you for your interest, I also like to make a fleshed out prototype and then the full thing if that is okay?
Thanks for your showhing games and your effort from that. An image or video is ten thousand times better than words !
But there are several question about your project, is your game written in Rust ?(Sorry I have seen your vidéo to get an idea but don't finished...) Are you showing your game as your project to rust group or is it a personnal project ? The idea of your game is nice but it requires refinement... However, it's a very good start for prototyping, thanks for the screenshot. I’d say it’s missing information about the objective, the gameplay mechanics, and the story (if there is one). If you're showing us a 3D Snake-style game—assuming that's what it is—then it looks like a small-scale title that wouldn't require a Rust-sized team. It seems more like an indie game, unless you tell me otherwise.
Don't be intimidated by what I'm saying; I'm just trying to understand your project and your goal.
Sorry again. I can see you're putting effort into your projects, and that's what matters most.
I hope you can clarify your true goal and why you need to make a game with the Rust group?
Above all, don't view this negatively; I strongly encourage you to pursue what you're doing and what you enjoy most.
It is made in Rust language, the finished game is a personal project, the other is what I have of the next, I usually just do configurable everything with no story, Snayk 3+ is actually higher dimensional, not just 3d, the Paxul 3+ plans were kind of mid-indie size stuff, I guess I should explain more, it will also get into tetrahedral stuff like 4d golf, can we like Google Meet or something so we can have stuff explained better and not internet tag?
Sorry, I can't speak English verbally—I'm French, lol—so I'll stop talking, since it's just adding unnecessary noise. I'll let others have the talk.
I prefer group discussions—that’s what I think.
And of course, yep to that there are cases where AI is copyrightable, I was planning dynamic JSON human language loading and font loading with right to left, like serde_json, about all the platforms (it gets easier, but this is a major hurdle), a custom tesselator for egui because 4d+ customization, we can use the default one as a template and then position and cut, and the goal for players is basically to have fun, it is almost a normal PacMan idea, but the maze is bigger and so is the number of dots, I was planning to have a level (maze) editor too, we can use AI to translate stuff into practically everything and distribute the human text freely I think, I have more like dynamic vertex colors configuration and possibly even later multiplayer, since the maze is absolutely huge possibly, more searchers is good, we may also need a numeric keyboard based on the JSON for VR because not all of those have software keyboards, I also want smart TV and Steam Deck inputs, so Dpad only and gamepad only inputs, go mostly by class I guess, like smart TV, mobile, desktop, VR, and Steam Deck types, web can be any, so much to do, so many things to plan for, but we are not going to infringe on the owners of PacMan original either, I get that this might be over scoping, but with just 3 backends (SDL3, OpenXR, and winit) and one unified front end (egui+wgpu+others) for it all, why not? Note that some things cross boundaries, like VR iOS or Windows tablet/PC things, so options and minimal working stuff is good, all the platforms have some form of file loading, so the JSON thing gives literally any language any time for users, anyway, good luck, if you can write English is enough, thanks for the interest, you still want to?
Not unnecessary noise, we can talk like this, it is fine, would you like to have other contacts?
Ok if it is fine for you so let's the other to talk on what they think your project ![]()
If others are interested and you keep developing the project, I might get involved—though right now I'm just speaking for myself, and I could be wrong.
I'd come back if there are other people involved, or even just a small group—that works for me too.
Basically, you just need to clarify your goal and what the game actually is, because I'm struggling to wrap my head around that "tetrahedral stuff" or the 4D golf concept—it's hard to picture a 4D game like that xD
It's possible, but it sounds very scientific!
Idk man! I would like to buy yk, I am not a good programmer yet so idk how much I would be helpful. And mostly I focus on system level programming and stuff. Moreover time is a bigger constraint as I have uni, most of my time goes there and related to it. But anyway, if time permits, I would like to help anyway.
Don't worry, I am at uni too now, thanks, I guess at some point whoever is going to work on this needs a contract, what do you want?
Hi! Thank you for thinking of me. I'd be happy to join the discussion and share my experience with Rust game development. I'm currently rebuilding my own engine toward a modern 3D architecture, but I'd be glad to exchange ideas and see how I can contribute. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

@Zlormann and @sham-404 Thank you all for coming here in this thread, your actions are valuable, so I am grateful to you.
Zlormann and sham-404: I am happy if your contribution permits to you to make a game and exchange your ideas here are great ![]()
The project from maybeJosiah is a game making Rust group, I have talked with him here, but dunno very well for his goal and what is that showing this game as 4D concept... First for me it looks like a 3D snake game showing his video above but i could be wrong cause his talk is a little beyond my words... I would like you give me and at him your point of view of his project ? In my side I suggest him if a game for 2D platform is possible to be done ? Because 4D concept is a bit beyond from my skill... Sharing your thoughts on what to do it first? Ask your many question if possible to get a deep of understanding more ?
Again thanks to all for your discussion participation trends ![]()
I am not sure what are you saying bro. But anyway, as I said earlier, if time allows, i am more than happy to contribute to the game if I can ![]()
Thank you very much for your kind words! ![]()
I'm happy to be part of this discussion.
In my opinion, it's usually better to start with a simple and solid prototype before adding more advanced concepts like 4D gameplay. A strong foundation makes it much easier to experiment and improve later.
I'm looking forward to learning more about maybeJosiah's project. I'd be happy to share ideas and contribute if I can.
Thanks again for bringing us together, and I'm excited to see where this project goes!

I am meaning that we need specified rules of working together, probably best to work on a contract to start with each other, or we can just go informal, but contracts give us defined rules and what to expect and like who owns the intellectual property (should be everyone) and who can legally do anything with it and what about business, taxes, etc.? Also, higher dimensions are a core concept if we are doing my thing, but whatever everyone wants to do, should I explain all the crates I had planned? I am in the USA, Eastern mainland time, like New York time, may I get time zone and continent, I don't want more? I suggest equal revenue share, everyone has the intellectual property and right to sell or otherwise profit, but within equal revenue share except as agreed otherwise, we will each pay our own taxes and the revenue share is equal before this, not after necessarily, we may want to decide like official country of business registration if we want one and which country to register copyright in, we should do in at least one for added legal protection, also, I guess business expenses are also a thing, I would also suggest but not mandatory if any one person does more than 80% of the work, they get it, but hopefully we contribute equally enough so that never happens, what do you think? Also, should we eventually move this off the forum and into personal chats?
