Hi Folks!

What would be required to make FreeBSD a tier 1 platform for Rust?

[These are the requisites](https://doc.rust-lang.org/book/getting-started.html#tier-1) that a platform must met to be considered a tier 1 platform.

> Automated testing is set up to run tests for the platform.

We already running the test suite for the freebsd target. Both on the [32-bit](http://buildbot.rust-lang.org/builders/auto-freebsd10_32-1) and [64-bit](http://buildbot.rust-lang.org/builders/auto-freebsd10_64-1) variants.

> Landing changes to the rust-lang/rust repository's master branch is gated on tests passing.

We are not doing this yet. I don't know the details but the builds are failing.

> Official release artifacts are provided for the platform.

This is being worked on. @alexcrichton is currently working on binary releases of [rustc and libstd for freebsd](https://github.com/rust-lang/rust-buildbot/issues/78#issuecomment-198068877).

> Documentation for how to use and how to build the platform is available.

I don't know the state of the documentation on this area.

Also check [this comment/thread](https://internals.rust-lang.org/t/request-for-adding-free-hardened-bsd-and-linux-musl-to-official-releases/3185/2).

(Also I think this kind of question belongs to the internals forum rather here)

Thanks for the reply! I will follow up on the info. I didn't realize there is a separate internals forum... Will post there next.
