Fear and Loathing of Rust. Help!

He does know that. He stated so in the very message you're replying to.

And zicog said that the "ideology" that lead them to rust was the ability to write robust software.
I read this as a claim that your statement is untrue, that many look at rust as a tool to help them code software, and not as a tool to push ideology.

I would include myself in that group. Personally I don't believe a programming language can change things that are political in nature, and attempts to do so are misguided.

Honestly I don't see how ZiCog was twisting words here. I start with the assumption that people are discussing in good faith, and usually that turns out to be true.

If I misunderstood your meaning you have my apologies.

In that case could you please tell me what that ideology that Rust advocates have is?
I am a Rust advocate, please tell me what ideology you think I have.

I said that directly in my post. Why do you suggest I don't know that.

I have no intension of twisting words and I'm pretty sure I have not expressed any agenda in this thread.

Please help untangle things for me. What is that ideology you talk of that Rust advocates have yet I am unaware of?

Sadly, people really love to hate things. I've seen and heard lots of people talking trash about Rust, but also about C++ for different reasons, but in the same "style".

There are a few very loud people online who misunderstand things and then spread those "news" everywhere online. Then other people pick up the "news" and believe whatever without asking themselves once if it is true or not.

Regarding the "Rust cultists", I always defended Rust by saying that people in its official forums are very nice and respectful.

And it is a similar situation with X11 vs Wayland in the Linux desktop space. There are a lot of loud people accusing the other party with similar non-sense.

I'm personally sick of this, because it harms the general community, the "normal" people that are around. It's people hating things just because.

I won't agree with this statement unless you point out 1) how many people you think follow "very similar patterns" and 2) links to comments of them or screenshot evidence.

Also please show me examples of 1) who did what, 2) why you call the person a Rust advocate, 3) what ideology you think the person has.

To me it looks like a sign of a) low-effort posting, and b) intending not to communicate, but to only advocate your own opinions. You didn't even try to include objective information in your post, which usually has a low censorship rate. (If you did try, you can ignore this paragraph.)

There are at least hundreds of programming languages.

Everybody has an opinion.

Certain people develop preferences for this or that [programming language].

That's about it.

You are free to simply ignore other peoples' expressed ideologies. I do that all of the time.

I would actually like to know, please elaborate in detail.

I'm pretty sure people flagged your post, because of your hostile wording which reads as bad intend.

Again please elaborate what you mean, no one here knows what you are talking about unless you explain it to us.

Actually I guess it might be better to start a new thread? Because the thread is kinda going away from the OP's questions.
