Configuration for the colors of the compiler output

Is it possible to configure the colors of the compiler output?

I use a terminal with a white background, and some colors (like bright yellow) are hard to read.

If colors are not configurable, is there any way to disable them completely?

I don't know about configuring them, but to disable them use --color never

Doesn't your terminal let you configure colors ?

Yep, but other programs are forcing a black background, so they will look worse with a darker yellow.

If the default color scheme is using the bright variant of every color, I prefer to use my own configuration, or at least disable them completely.
