Concerns on the Long Term Viability of Rust for Real World Applications

Increasingly, we're becoming concerned about the number of key crates that have remained at a 0.y.z version level with the resultant impacts on stability of their interfaces.

Actual instances of problems caused by Rust 0.y.z "key" crates seem thin on the ground. Maybe they exist but I haven't heard about them. Do you have examples rather than simply fears?
